]]> Pournamasi Rath has been selected to the 2025 Crain’s New York Business Notable Leaders in Sustainability list. Honored among 35 leaders from across industries in New York City, Pournamasi was recognized for her role in shaping VIP HOUSE LLC’s climate strategy across scales and typologies. A pioneer early on, she helped certify the first Passive House project in the state of New York. Today, she is leading the sustainability strategy for The New York Climate Exchange, a first-of-its-kind climate research campus targeting triple net-zero and the Living Building Challenge. Beyond buildings, she helped launch City CDR—a global initiative that provides a framework for carbon sink cities—and is a champion of New York City’s Climate Mobilization Act. Congratulations, Pournamasi!

The project combines careful preservation with meticulous restoration, resulting in thousands of design and construction decisions—many of which we’ll unpack next week.
Join us on February 12 in New York for an in-person conversation, The Waldorf Astoria New York—A Legacy Reimagined, at the Museum of the City of New York. Principal Frank Mahan will present a lecture in addition to joining a panel discussion alongside Ray Pepi of Building Conservation Associates, with Justin Davidson of New York Magazine moderating. Together, they’ll examine the architectural approach behind the project, the realities of working within a landmarked structure, and how the Waldorf’s cultural significance informed the work at every stage.

]]> From reimagining inclusivity and accessibility in air travel at Kansas City International Airport to investing in the future of mobility with 3,000 new bus shelters in Los Angeles, inclusive design is about uplifting our communities and creating spaces that serve everyone. 
On Wednesday, January 21, Partner Julia Murphy will lead a timely conversation at the Women Executives in Real Estate (WX) January Breakfast titled “Universal Design, ADA, and the Future of Accessible Environments.” The discussion will examine how universal design and the ADA have shaped—and continue to shape—our public spaces. From real-world projects that are moving the needle on accessibility to the evolving regulatory landscape, the panel will explore what inclusive design really looks like today and why it matters for everyone who plans, builds, owns, and operates the built environment.
Murphy will moderate alongside panelists Lorena Chacon (NYC Department of Design and Construction), Daphne Frias (Box the Ballot), and Lee Ping Kwan (Socotec USA). Join us at the New York Bar Association for a thoughtful conversation on what accessible design can and should be.
